🗣 Focus on: Depersonalised Leadership: The Key to Successful Organisations
In light of yesterday’s general election in the UK, topics on leadership and organisations are more relevant than ever – not just in education, but in the overall professional landscape. In this month’s edition of LYIS – the digital magazine from Leading Your International School, Elisa Prisco emphasises the risks of static leadership, which can stifle creativity and undermine a sense of belonging. She proposes ‘depersonalised leadership’ as an alternative to create a more inclusive and dynamic environment, wherein the concepts of ‘leader’ and ‘follower’ are integrated as a unified process.
The UK general election provides an opportunity to reflect on how leadership styles impact our institutions and communities. When something goes wrong, in a school, organisation, or country, the leadership is the first thing to be analysed, often leading to a disconnect between leaders and followers. Therefore, it is important to have leaders that best reflect our own values and that will be good leaders for others and not just for themselves.
