LYIS-Q: Contextual, People-Centered and Sustainable

Leading Your International School will unveil its first-ever International Principals Qualification (LYIS-Q) in International School Leadership next September, aiming to build a more sustainable future for all.

Leading Your International School – whose core values are Ethical Leadership, Opportunity and Sustainability – have spent the past five years researching, designing and evaluating the most significant roles of a Principal, as well as determining the content of the course.

The qualification, aimed at leaders who are motivated to make positive change, is designed to be one of ‘the most contextually robust, practically relevant and sustainably focused school leadership qualifications on the market’, said André Double, Founder of Leading Your International School.

He added that this is ‘a new qualification for a new generation of leaders. It includes key skills and behaviours for leaders to develop in achieving a more sustainable future for all.

We want to be different: in our design, delivery and approach. Going beyond a qualification.’

To be eligible, applicants must have a Teacher Reference Number (TRN), at least three years of teaching experience, one year of middle or senior leadership experience, and realistically be no more than three years away from applying to become a Principal.

Over 12 months, participants will study five modules facilitated by course tutors including Gráinne O’Reilly, Dr Justin Zhang, Juma Nyamori, Siobhan Brady, Dr Jake Madden, Matt Topliss, Al Kingsley, Greg Parry and many more to be announced: The International School Principal; Developing People – Leading to Create Opportunities for All; Curriculum and Learning Leadership; Sustainable Leadership; and Building Relationships to Navigate Change.

In addition to the directed reading, learning will take place through self-assessment of skills and knowledge, relationship-building with a mentor, background reading, interviews and collaborations with course and school colleagues, networking, as well as ongoing reflection throughout the qualification.

Values and learning behaviours will be explored and developed throughout the core modules and their assignments, LYIS leadership framework submissions, group collaborative tasks, problems of practice, a reflective journal and a final choice of assessment around a Leadership Development Plan.

The LYIS-Q fee is £1750 for LYIS Members, while £2050 for guests (excluding VAT if applying as an individual).

All participants receive a year’s complimentary membership at LYIS, unlocking a host of additional benefits including regular PD and exclusive rates to the #LYIS26 Conference.
