Leading Your International School (LYIS) is delighted to announce our member Adiona Llukmani as our new Wellbeing and Mental Health Lead. The move underscores our mission statement: To Level Up International School Leadership by providing much-needed support for those leaders to feel safe and supported in their roles. Leading an international school needn’t be a role in which the principal feels isolated and unable to talk to people about their mental health.
Adiona is a dedicated wellbeing and inclusion specialist with more than a decade of experience in education, therapy, and, latterly, leadership development. Based at Foshan EtonHouse International School (FEIS), she currently leads upper-school initiatives for both students and staff, aiming to embed inclusive practices into the school’s culture. “With the role of the international school principal becoming ever more diverse, it is important we recognise that mental health and wellbeing is everyone’s priority,” said LYIS CEO André Double, adding, “Adiona’s expertise will offer vital wellbeing support to our members and the wider international school leadership community.”
Originally from Albania, Adiona began her career as a certified speech and language therapist. She holds a master’s in communication for social and behaviour change and a PGCE in education. Her diverse background includes leadership in NGOs, curriculum development, and now targeted mental health programming for students. Adiona has a range of international and therapeutic experiences, with advanced qualifications in behavioural change and education. She recently underwent training in mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and educational safeguarding.

At EtonHouse, she supports students in Years 7 to 13 through evidence-informed wellbeing programmes, leads the PSHCE Curriculum, and supports staff with professional development in safeguarding, emotional intelligence, and inclusive practice.

In this new role, Adiona will work with LYIS, members and partners to raise the profile of mental health and wellbeing in our international schools. She will begin the design of a structured and people-centred wellbeing and mental health programme across our membership, leadership programmes (including the LYIS-Q) and wider partnerships. A key aspect of her role will be supporting members in developing emotionally healthy, fair, and sustainable leadership cultures, on a personal and school-wide level.
LYIS is proud to have Adiona help us build a future where wellbeing and inclusion are a key part of the conversation about the way we lead.
