Leading Your International School is delighted to formally welcome Siobhan Brady as our penultimate Founding Board member.
Her vast experiences across various schools and roles—particularly as a school principal, consultant, and school improvement leader within the international sector has enabled her to impact multiple educational institutions strategically.
Throughout Siobhan’s career, her primary drive has been to place students at the core of education. As a school evaluator, Siobhan’s role is to achieve supportive yet accountable measures for leadership teams to utilise that lead to school improvement. In line with our Mission, she believes it is crucial to advocate for a more diverse and forward-thinking leadership in international education that embraces new aspects of the field.
“There is a pressing need for change, particularly in breaking the cycle of employing like-minded individuals, as this limits the ability to adapt to the evolving needs of the educational landscape” notes Siobhan. By embracing diverse perspectives and experiences, she believes that “educational approaches can be significantly enhanced”.
With significant expertise in raising the profile of safeguarding, inclusion, and well-being in international schools, her contribution to the Board will be crucially important.
She recognises that the role of a leader in any school, especially that of a principal, can be isolating, (particularly for schools that are geographically distant or part of limited networks). Collaborating with owners, CEOs, and principals is vital in creating a unified vision for school improvement. “LYIS provides schools and their leaders with the opportunity to access the support they need for guidance, reassurance, and constructive feedback,” says Siobhan.
As leadership continues to evolve, accountability will remain important, and trust in our professional colleagues equally essential. Siobhan believes that “through high-quality leadership and appropriate training, colleagues can be supported and trusted to make a meaningful impact within their roles, alongside the structures that hold them accountable”.
“Being part of the LYIS Board will allow me to further utilise my expertise in quality assurance and strategic planning on a wider international scale, especially during significant educational transformations. I am eager to contribute to a supportive network, regardless of the school’s curriculum”. Siobhan says.
Finally, adding, that “improving leadership, benefits all students across our institutions”.
Siobhan joins recently appointed Board members Juma Nyamori, Al Kingsley and Claire Hao and Chair of the Leading Your International School Society of Principals Nicholas Paul Belcher.
Welcome to LYIS Siobhan!
