A Celebration of Shared Values
Last week, Leading Your International School visited Nord Anglia Chinese International School (NACIS)Shanghai along with our strategic partner WildChina Education for a special sharing session. A visit that supported our core value of sustainability.
A Welcoming Environment for Student Growth
Arriving at NACIS, we were struck by the warmth and support from the staff. The spacious campus, surrounded by rivers and parks, provides a nurturing environment that caters to all aspects of student development. With over 2,000 students enjoying their time there, NACIS appears to foster a thriving learning community.
Learning from a Renowned Speaker and Passionate Students
The visit offered the privilege of meeting Michael Gunton, Creative Director – Factual at BBC Studios, who was speaking at the school. He shared his expertise and experience with students and was greeted with enthusiastic applause. Amongst the NACIS students, I was equally impressed by the studentsβ passion, focus, and curiosity, acting as ambassadors for their school. All were incredibly respectful and welcoming, a sentiment shared by the host speaker, πππ§ ππ¬π‘ππ¨π§ – Assistant Head of Primary.
Sustainability in Action: Inspiring Initiatives and Global Citizens
The second part of the event showcased the impressive sustainability projects undertaken by five student groups. The students showed their independence and organisational skills passionately. They confidently presented their plans for building a low-carbon school and leading sustainable lifestyles – all delivered in fluent English. These presentations highlighted a commitment to advocating for a greener world as global citizens and future leaders. Witnessing these presentations deeply resonated with our core values of LYIS, aligning perfectly with our core value of Sustainability.
Collaboration, Growth, and Supportive Relationships
Conversations with parents revealed their immense satisfaction in seeing their children flourish in a collaborative environment, taking ownership of their learning and life journey. Appreciation was extended to NACIS and WildChina for creating such a valuable event. The dedication of leaders and staff, including ππ‘π¨π¦ππ¬ ππ’πππ‘π’π§π π¬ – Head of Primary, and ππ‘π₯π¨π πππ§ – Head of Primary STEAM, was evident, highlighting the strong bond of trust and respect between parents and teachers. A parent of a Grade 5 student perfectly captured the essence of the visit: “I am always happy to come to NACIS and join in the activities with my daughter. She has made such an incredible improvement and when I see her so happy and focused here, I know she is learning and growing well.”
Another parent of a Grade 4 student, echoed the sentiment, emphasising the importance of environmental responsibility: “I like seeing our younger generation looking after the environment and calling for a sustainable world. It’s more than saving money and involves being responsible. What WildChina is doing is really meaningful.”
LYIS expresses its sincere gratitude to NACIS and WildChina for a truly inspiring visit. A huge thanks to ππ¨π¦ πππ°π’π¬, the WildChina team, and NACIS for having us there.
